Seeking National Board Certification® is an intensive and extensive professional development experience based on high standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. WVEA has established candidate support sessions that are specifically designed to provide experienced mentoring by National Board Certified Teachers for candidates in a relaxed atmosphere.
"I began the NBPTS process with no idea how to start. I received an email from WVEA regarding upcoming NBC support sessions. I attended WVEA's monthly "Collaboration with NBCTs" sessions held in Charleston. Those meetings helped me organize my portfolio entries and gave me the opportunity to work with Terry McAbee, a NBCT mentor and WVEA member. The sessions throughout the process were convenient, time efficient and provided me with access to resource materials and equipment for my use. I am grateful to be a member of the WVEA. The WVEA has arranged to have a National Board Certified Teacher® (NBCT) facilitate a NBC® “Documented Accomplishments - Entry 4” session. The session will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at WVEA Headquarters in Charleston. The session begins at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude by 2:30 p.m. Lunch will be served on site. The registration fee for WVEA members is $20 and includes lunch, all materials and handouts. The fee for non-members is $100.
A National Board Certified Teacher® will provide information regarding the National Board Certification "Documented Accomplishments - Entry 4" and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
