Teacher Achievement Awards

The WVEA is proud to continue its expanded partnership of the annual Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards.  WVFIE, the WVEA’s tax-exempt foundation to assist at-risk students, will award $1,000 to the Faculty Senates of the award winners.  In addition to the school donation from WVFIE, a personal cash award of $2,500 will be presented by Arch Coal to each of the 12 award winners.

The award is unique, because the public makes the nominations, but peers make the final selections.  All certified, regular classroom teachers in the state are eligible.

Nomination forms are being posted in every public and non-public school in the state, all West Virginia Speedway locations, and can be found on the Arch Coal site at www.archteacherawards.com.

The nomination period for 20010 has not yet begun, but will open for nominations after the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year.  Nominated teachers will receive an application package that must be completed and returned.  Judging of applications will be conducted by former Teacher Achievement Award winners and other education experts.  The award winners will be announced in early March 2010.
