Congratulations to Monongalia County Education Association member Allison Patrick for being named a 2025 NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellow! She teaches at Eastwood Elementary in Morgantown.
The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship offers educators unique opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge needed to bring global perspectives into their classrooms. Over the course of a
year, the fellowship involves various forms of professional development, including online courses, webinars, and an international field study. The field study allows Fellows to explore a particular country’s historical and cultural context and understand its educational landscape through interactions with local policymakers, business leaders, non-profit organizations, and school communities.
For the 2025 cohort, the field study will take place in Costa Rica, where Allison and other Fellows will have the chance to engage directly with the country’s education system and broader cultural and historical elements, enhancing their ability to foster a global mindset among their students. Enjoy this year, Allison, and we look forward to a recap of your Costa Rican adventure!
