Early Career Educators

Welcome to the Profession!

As you begin your journey as an early career classroom teacher, the WVEA will be with you every step of the way. Like you, we became educators to inspire, motivate and change lives for the good. That desire to do good extends to so many of us in our varied roles within education. As we welcome you to the teaching profession and the start of your career, we encourage you to belong to your professional association that will help provide you a safety net so you can make a difference in the lives of our students and the opportunities and resources you need to succeed.

We became educators and we belong to WVEA because we each make a difference. Your WVEA is an organization of, by and for school employees who work to achieve common goals of providing quality public schools for every child.  Every new school year brings new challenges and motivation to achieve the vision of being a teacher. The necessity of WVEA’s work was never more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic. And today, we have never needed each other more; our students have never needed us to unite more. And our unified voice affords us the power to do more together than we can by ourselves.

WVEA has a proud history of providing the resources and opportunities educators need to succeed. And together, we stand up for ourselves, our profession and West Virginia’s future.

Each school year comes with new rewards and new challenges. The WVEA is here to help support you in your career with everything from professional development opportunities to questions you have regarding rights and responsibilities…providing you with a community of educators that, as a member, you can access year-round.
