Kym Randolph, West Virginia Education Association’s new executive director, says she’s “an educator at heart” and her “personal and professional goals are about education and doing the right thing for students and school employees. I’m looking forward to working with educators and WVEA staff in standing together for our public schools.”

Before becoming executive director January 1, Randolph headed up WVEA’s instructional and communications departments and served as the assistant executive director for over a decade before replacing David Haney, who retired.

Known for her straight talk, “can do” attitude and wry sense of humor, Randolph is a West Virginia native, graduating high school from Ripley where her father was a steel worker and a union member.  “I understood then, as I do now, what working together and speaking with one voice can achieve,” she said.

Randolph is a Marshall University graduate. She taught high school social studies and science in Wirt County where she also coached basketball and volleyball and was a respected local association leader. Randolph’s first job with WVEA was in the southern coal fields as an Organizational Development Specialist (ODS) advocating for school personnel and public schools.
