#ThankATeacher Meme Winners Celebrate Teachers

A 5th grade Pocahontas County student and a Fayette County 5th grade teacher are winners in WVEA’s first ever “Thank a Teacher Like You Meme” It contest.  The purpose was to provide a fun and creative way to thank the extraordinary educators who have worked tirelessly with students and families as part of National Teacher Day, which was May 4.

A 20-year teaching veteran, Patricia Syner teaches at Anstead Elementary School.  “I have yet to meet a teacher who is not dedicated to their students,” she says about her WVEA colleagues.

Willa Hardy attends school at Hillsboro Elementary says “I wanted to use my meme to make sure that everyone knows how hard my teachers worked this year and how amazing they are to do all that they did for us” Her parents are Josh Hardy and Joanna Burt-Kinderman.

The project is part of WVEA’s promotion of Teacher Appreciation Week, which was May 2-8. Find the winning memes on WVEA’s social media channels (@IamWVEA) along with online shareables to celebrate and thank educators for all they’ve done during such an unpredictable year.

Every year communities across the country come together during Teacher Appreciation Week to thank educators for the lengths they go to ensure every student, no matter who they are or where they live, has the tools to learn, grow, and thrive.
